We are going to be talking about tech and logistic tools for your e-commerce shop. The ONE thing to always keep in mind when it comes to tech and logistics is the EXPERIENCE you’re creating for your customers.
The best e-commerce shops create an amazing buying experience for each one of their customers. How do they achieve this? They do the simple things really well. Sounds super simple right? But so many shops miss this. If you can simplify the buying process, meaning make it super easy to purchase. Then make sure your customers receive their products on time. Ideally with awesome notifications that tell them when their items have shipped and when they have been delivered. If you can achieve those two things, then you are doing better than most.
The awesome part about nailing down the buying and delivery process is that once you’ve achieved that you can focus on the small details. Making the buying experience even more awesome. It’s the small details that make your customers want to find any excuse to buy more from you! But before you can perfect the small details you HAVE TO make sure you are doing the simple things AWESOMELY!
THE PAINFUL TRUTH
There is nothing that will slow down your sales more than a frustrating buying process. When things aren’t clear, simple and easy you will lose sales, and even worse you will lose repeat customers and miss out on the opportunity to create raving fans. So your buying process HAS to be simple, easy and quick.
So, how do you make sure your buying process is awesomely simple and user-friendly. The first part is deciding which platform you want to set your shop up on. Most of the big box platforms are going to have the simple purchasing part already worked out. Which is a huge plus!
Also, most of the big platforms also offer shipping logistics. Which is HUGE. Because once again, if you can achieve a simple buying and delivery process you will be able to create an amazing experience for your customers which will give you the opportunity to transition them into raving fans that want to buy all your products!
Get the buying and shipping process nailed down first, then focus on making the small details awesome. That is how you will achieve an incredible experience for your customers.
We recently wanted to send a gift to two amazingly inspiring people. So what did we do, jumped online to have something shipped to them. We’ve shipped flowers in the past but had ALWAYS been disappointed with what they received. there is nothing worse than sending a very uninspired gift to inspirational people. Right?!
Now, we had seen a new flower delivery company pop up on our social feed a few times and it looked very inspiring. So we decided to take a chance on flowers once again. And to say that this company won us over is a HUGE understatement!! Sofia is trying to find any excuse to send flowers to everyone we know.
So what was it that won us over? The EXPERIENCE. The experience with this flower company was phenomenal, from start to finish. Their shop isn’t overloaded with excess, it’s clean, simple and beautifully inspiring to look at. The images make it incredibly easy to know exactly what the product (the flower arrangement) will look like, including the size and even a short video to show me how the EXPERIENCE will be when our friends open their box of flowers.
We received simple and fun confirmation emails once the order was placed and when it was delivered. And it was delivered on time!
Then the coolest part was receiving the voice message from the people who we sent the flowers to. They, the wife, was in LOVE with them. She couldn’t get over how beautiful they were. That is a HUGE difference from the previous times we’ve sent flowers and received only a simple thank you text. Because the flowers looked cheap and the arrangement totally lacked inspiration and quality.
Here’s a BIG lesson, so pay attention. The crapy flower company did the two key elements right. The buying process was easy and the delivery was done on time. However, they skipped over all the details! The one main important one being, having a killer product and the second one being that no attention was made to the small details.
Easy buying process + smooth shipping + killer product + attention to detail = AN INCREDIBLE EXPERIENCE (which means more sales)
FAILURE ISN’T FINAL. GET BACK UP AND KEEP GOING.
- Make sure you’ve chosen the right platform for your shop. A platform that will allow you to achieve a simple buying and shipping process.
- This might seem super obvious, but make sure you have a killer product.
- Pay attention to all the small details! List out all the small details and then start thinking of ways to make each of those details AWESOME!
Here is an example of some of the details; product images, product videos, packaging, email confirmations, and email follow-ups. How can you make each detail phenomenal? With your branding woven into each aspect.
If you take the time to really nail down each one of these action steps you will create a phenomenal experience for each of your customers. Which will result in more sales and the joy of knowing you have achieved something really awesome.
